Dr. Nasongkhla received her PhD from the University of Melbourne and is currently a senior lecturer in landscape architecture at Faculty of Built Environment, University Technology Malaysia (UTM). She has more than 15 years experience in professional practice and consultancy, university teaching and research. Dr. Nasongkhla’s research interests encompass an interpretation of landscape aesthetics in eastern and western cultures, sustainable landscape planning/design and community participation in landscape planning and management. She is teaching ecological landscape design, community planning and landscape history and criticism. She also participated in fully-funded international professional workshops in relevant to sustainable regional and urban planning in France, Thailand and Vietnam from 2000 to 2007. She has currently received research funds from the Thai National Research Council in the topic entitled “Community-based Strategic Planning for Green Landscape Connectivity: Study of Songkhla Lake and Pattani Watersheds” and fully funded from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in “Typologies of Urban Sprawl in Johor Bahru’s Suburbs: Landscape Aesthetic quality of Communal Open Spaces and Built Forms in Residential Communities along the Nusajaya-Perling-Skudai Corridor”. She has published four refereed international conference papers and four domestic conference papers. She has also supervised research higher degree students in areas of recycling grey water through hydroponic vertical gardens and sustainable landscape planning.
