About
Dr. Ammar Abdo (from Republic of Yemen) received his PhD in Computer Science (Computational Informatics) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2010. His dissertation was on Similarity-Based Virtual Screening Using Bayesian Inference Network. He is the author of more than 17 publications (published in international journals and conferences) and the recipient of many awards for his research, including Microsoft’s award for best paper presented during the Annual Computer Science Postgraduate Annual Research Seminar in 2008, the best student award from the school of graduate studies in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2010, the Chancellor’ award for excellent academic achievement (Best PhD Thesis) in 2010, and the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Publication award in 2011. His current interests include information retrieval, bioinformatics and chemoinformatics. Since 2010, Dr. Ammar Abdo has been appointed as a Senior lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, department of Information System, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Systems.
